Please would you tell me:
A record of all acid attacks recorded by your force during the following calendar years:
c) 2017 to date (April 21 or whichever date is closest)
Please use calendar years but failing that financial years would be fine - please state which type of year you respond with.
By 'acid attack' I mean any kind of crime in which the perpetrator(s) threw acid or a corrosive substance at the victim(s) in order to harm them.
For each record, please provide:
i) the local authority of community safety partnership in which it took place
ii) the year
iii) the crime as recorded by the police (e.g. assault occasioning actual bodily harm)
iv) the outcome of the crime (e.g. charged)
I approached our Crime Management System (CMS) Administrator for assistance with your request. The CMS system is used to record complaints or allegations of those matters, which the Home Office specify should be recorded as ‘crimes’.
She provided me with the enclosed data and the following explanation of her search criteria:
I have included a count of offences recorded within the offence groups – Violence against the person, Robbery & sexual offences (nil result) where one of the following weapon type has been used –
ACID – NIL RESULT
OTHER CORROSIVE/NOXIOUS/ACCELERANT FLUID
I have included a breakdown of offences, Local Policing Team, offence outcome and the weapon type & usage recorded on CMS for 2015, 2016 and 01-JAN-2017 to 30-APR-2017.
Calendar year has been used.
