CLARIFICATION
Please could you clarify the following point(s): -

I contacted our HR department for assistance with your request, they have researched and requested clarification as they cannot answer your question in their current format.
The total number of injuries to on-duty police officers recorded across South Yorkshire each year, broken down by local authority area and by cause of injury
This can be done for Local Policing Team etc that are assigned to specific Districts but a number of our departments are not divided that way for example Joint Specialist Op’s Unit serve the county not a specific district.
Please advise how we should proceed, would a break down by injury be sufficient?

• The number of these injuries classed as serious or life-changing
I cannot identify life changing – the report shows specific levels of injury to comply with HSE but this does not show long term outcomes
Could you please give further details of any injuries sustained on duty in the last year which resulted in the officer taking more than five days' sickness absence.
The report is not linked to sickness report and so cannot identify time off after an injury with accessing every record individually.
To access each record individually to retrieve and extract the pertinent information may well lead us to exceed the 18hr limit allowed with the FOI Act.

Can you please clarify how you would wish us to proceed, taking into account the points raised by HR.

CLARIFICATION
Thanks for your request for clarification.

Regarding point 1, could you please break down the information just by cause of injury - I was hoping to get a location of where the injury was sustained but if this is not possible or would exceed the time limit, don't worry

Re point 2, could you break down the data according to the specific levels required by the HSE, and include a table explaining what those levels mean

Re point 3, since this would exceed the cost threshold I am happy for you to respond without this further information.
