Serious collision in Doncaster – can you help?

A 25-year-old man has been left with serious injuries following a collision in Doncaster last night (Monday 12 February).

At around 7.10pm, an orange Kia Picanto was at the junction with Wentworth Road, facing on to Wheatley Hall Road, when it began to turn right on to Wheatley Hall Road, heading away from the town centre. As it did, it has been in a collision with a red Ford Transit Van, travelling along Wheatley Hall Road in the opposite direction.

The 25-year-old man driving the Kia, was taken to hospital where he currently remains, with serious injuries.

The driver of the Transit van and a passenger in the vehicle both left the area before the emergency services arrived. They left in a silver Vauxhall Astra, believed to have been stolen from the scene of the collision. The car has since been found burnt out in the Humberside area.

Three passengers in the Kia, a 19-year-old woman and two men aged 29 and 31, were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries but have since been discharged.

Enquiries are now ongoing to trace the driver and passenger of the Transit van and officers would like to ask anyone who saw what happened, or who saw the van prior to the collision to contact them.
