Chief Superintendent Shelley Hemsley started with South Yorkshire Police in January 1994 stationed at Hackenthorpe Police Station and has worked predominantly in Sheffield throughout her career in roles as a PC, Sergeant and Superintendent, and is very proud to be currently leading Sheffield as District Commander. Shelley has been a tactical firearms commander since 2008, first as one of the Force Incident Managers and since as a cadre TFC and CIM.
She had the opportunity to study part-time for a Master of Studies in Police Management and Criminology at the University of Cambridge in 2017/18, during which time she studied the effectiveness of Domestic Violence Protection Notices.
