Appeal for witnesses after reported fail to stop collision

Roads Policing officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a reported fail to stop collision earlier this month, in which a cyclist suffered serious injuries.

At around 3.10pm on Wednesday 12 December, it is reported that a bicycle and a car were involved in a collision on the A616 Stocksbridge Bypass, between Wortley and the Fox Valley complex.

The cyclist, a 51-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. He remains in hospital.

The car involved is described as being a metallic blue Toyota Avensis, believed to be model from 2007 onwards.

The vehicle failed to stop and is believed to have left the scene in the direction of Flouch roundabout.
