Man named following Doncaster fatal collision

A 27-year-old man who died following a collision last weekend in Doncaster has today (Friday 28 December) been named as Simon Denman.

Simon, from the Lincolnshire area, suffered fatal injuries in the collision, which took place at around 10.20pm on Sunday 23 December.

It is reported that a black Vauxhall Vectra travelling along Bawtry Road was involved in a collision with a streetlight and a garden wall, causing damage.

The other occupants of the vehicle are believed to have fled the scene.

A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A further three people have been arrested in connection with the incident. A 25-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Thursday 27 December) on suspicion of aggravated burglary, possession of a firearm with intent and causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

A 25-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested by police today (Friday 28 December) on suspicion of aggravated burglary, possession of a firearm with intent and causing death by dangerous driving. Both remain in police custody.

Officers have been in the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire areas over the last two days carrying out warrants as part of the ongoing investigation.
