Man seriously injured following collision and assault in Sheffield

An investigation is underway following reports that a man was assaulted after being involved in a collision in Sheffield.

At around 8.30pm yesterday (Sunday 15 July), officers received reports that a 25-year-old man was involved in a collision on St George’s Close in the Netherthorpe area of Sheffield.

It was reported that a small silver hatchback vehicle was in collision with the man before two men got out of the car and assaulted the victim.

The offenders then got back into the car and left the scene, heading toward Broad Lane.

The 25-year-old was taken to hospital with a serious head injury that is not believed to be life-threatening.

Leading the investigation DC Sam Wardman said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation but we do believe this to be a targeted attack.

“A thorough investigation is underway and officers are conducting house-to-house enquiries as well as reviewing CCTV of the area.

“We would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident or who may have with information.
