As enquiries into a fatal collision in the Brierley area of Barnsley continue, officers are asking anyone who has video footage to contact them.
At around 1.40pm yesterday afternoon (Friday 14 September), a HGV, was travelling along Common Lane, towards Grimethorpe, when an officer in a marked patrol car, travelling in the opposite direction, turned around to follow the vehicle.
The HGV was then involved in a collision with a pedestrian, as it travelled on to Park View, before it collided with two parked cars and then a house on the road. The pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers are aware of footage circulating on social media of the HGV being in collision with the house and have asked that anyone with video footage submits it for their attention.
We’d also ask that people please refrain from sharing footage on social media, to prevent further distress to the victim’s family at this incredibly difficult time.
Park View, which was closed yesterday afternoon and into the evening, has now reopened.
Four men arrested in connection to the incident remain in custody at this time.
