Police are issuing a warning about the dangers of riding off-road motorcycles, following a collision in the Edlington area of Doncaster earlier this month in which one rider suffered serious injuries.
On Tuesday 19 February, it is reported that two off-road motorcycles were involved in a collision as they were riding along the lane that runs behind Gordon Road, Edlington.
One of the riders, an 18-year-old man, suffered serious injuries that required hospital treatment. The other rider suffered minor injuries.
Both motorcycles have since been seized by police and were discovered to be uninsured and unregistered.
PC Jamie Walker from the Off-Road Bikes Team said: “From our initial enquiries, we believe the riders were not wearing protective clothing while riding the motorcycles, which is incredibly dangerous.
“We know that the Gordon Road community have raised concerns about off-road bikes being ridden in an antisocial and dangerous manner, causing distress to those living locally.
“Our enquiries into this collision continue and as the bikes were unregistered and uninsured, those involved face potential prosecution.”
