Assault in Wickersley – did you see anything?

Police are appealing for witnesses following the reported assault of a 59-year-old man in Rotherham last month.

At around 8pm on Saturday 22 December, it is reported that the 59-year-old man was walking his dog along Bawtry Road in Wickersley.

Just after the footbridge and opposite the school, it is understand that he was assaulted by persons unknown, suffering serious facial injuries.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed pending further enquiries.

Officers are keen to hear from any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time and saw the victim, who was wearing a high-visibility jacket.
