In the early hours of this morning, two men were charged with a string of offences in connection to an assault in Rotherham, and an additional incident in Sheffield on Wednesday evening (18 April).
Aaron Casey, 24, and Louis Barker, 26, have both been charged with section 18 wounding (Grievous Bodily Harm), racially aggravated criminal damage and possession of a bladed article in relation to an assault on Wellgate in Rotherham.
At around 7pm a black one series BMW is reported to have pulled up on Wellgate and three men got of the car, approaching a black Audi A3.
The driver of the Audi, 19-years-old, is then reported to have been punched in the face and also sustained a stab wound to his back.
The Audi’s windscreen was then allegedly smashed and racist comments made towards the occupants of the car, before all three men got back into the BMW and fled the scene.
The 19-year-old attended hospital to be treated for his injuries and has since been discharged.
A third man arrested last night in connection to the incident remains in police custody at this time.
Barker and Casey have also been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence in connection to an incident in Shiregreen in Sheffield later that Wednesday evening (18 April).
At around 8.45pm, two men pulled up on Bellhouse Road on a motorbike, reportedly in possession of a firearm.
The men allegedly made threats with the firearm while on the bike, to an occupant at an address on the street demanding money.
There are not believed to have been any shots fired and no injuries have been reported.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Steve Whittaker said: “Anyone who may have witnessed the reported incidents I would please ask to come forward, either by calling police on 101, or anonymously calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
“We will all always thoroughly investigate any reports made to us, and if you have any concerns in your area I would encourage you to please get in touch with us,”
Barker, of North Hill Road, Sheffield, and Casey of Deerlands Avenue, Sheffield, were remanded into custody and will appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today (Friday, 20 April).
