Three men have appeared in court charged in connection to a number of robberies committed across the borough.

On Monday 23 April, a man entered St Leonard's News and Booze, Rotherham and then Bramley Mini Market, carrying an imitation firearm concealed in a plastic bag. A quantity of cash was stolen but no one was injured.

Alex Parker, 26, of no-fixed-address, has been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of possession of an imitation firearm in connection with the incident.

In a separate incident, three men wearing masks walked into Diamonds Classic Gold Jewellers on Church Street, on Monday 30 April, reportedly threatening a shop worker and carrying a knife and metal bars. A number of jewellery items were taken. The shop worker was not injured.

Two men have since been charged in connection with the incident. Lyle Copley, 22, of Cecil Avenue, Doncaster and Shakil Hussain, 26, of Bridge Close, Airmyn, have both been charged with robbery, and possession of a bladed article. Copley has also been charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs, disqualified driving and having no insurance.

All three men were remanded into custody to appear before Sheffield Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Wednesday 2 May).
