Appeal to trace HGV driver after death of woman

Officers investigating a collision on the A1(M) which resulted in the death of a 48-year-old woman are appealing to trace a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driver who they believe may have witnessed the incident.

At 10.15am on Friday 23 August, it is reported that a white Vauxhall Corsa and a black Yamaha motorcycle were involved in a collision on the A1(M) northbound carriageway on the approach to junction 35.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 55-year-old man, and the pillion passenger, a 48-year-old woman, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The 48-year-old woman sadly died on Tuesday 3 September. The man remains in hospital. 

CCTV shows a HGV stop at the bottom of the slip road on the carriageway. After a few moments, the vehicle crosses over the hatched markings and exits off the slip road in the left hand lane.

Officers are also keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage or who may have witnessed the collision.
