CCTV footage released following sexual assaults in Sheffield

Detectives in Sheffield have released CCTV footage of a man they’d like to speak to in connection with two alleged sexual assaults.

At around 2am on Monday (5 April) police received a report that an unknown man had approached a woman in her twenties, while she was walking along Bellhouse Road. He is said to have made sexual remarks before sexually assaulting her.

The team is now looking to identify the man captured in this CCTV and speak to him as part of their enquiries. The footage was captured on Bellhouse Road.

Detective Constable Joanne Vaughan is investigating, she said: “The man in the footage is wearing a blue dressing gown, trainers and a face mask. We believe there were numerous cars travelling along the road at the time so I am hoping someone will have spotted him or captured him on their dash cam.

“I believe this incident may be linked to a sexual assault reported to us on Easter Sunday (4 April), a few hours prior to the incident on Bellhouse Road.”

At around 8.20pm, police were alerted to reports that a 15-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted on Deerlands Avenue, also in Sheffield.

It is reported than an unknown man got out of his car approached the victim and sexually assaulted her, before leaving the scene in his vehicle, a black BMW.
DC Vaughan continued: “I know these incidents will be concerning to the local community. My team are currently reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out further enquiries to ascertain whether the incidents are definitely linked and identify anyone responsible. Both victims are beign supported by specially trained officers.

“I am appealing to anyone who spotted this man in the Bellhouse Road area in the early hours of Monday morning to get in touch. He could be vital to our enquiries.”
