Appeal launched following shots fired in Sheffield

Officers in Sheffield are appealing for information following reports of shots fired in Gleadless yesterday (12 August).

Police were called at 7pm after members of the public reported hearing shots fired in Gleadless Road.

An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting incident number 775 of 12 August.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Murphy, from the Armed Crime Team said: “We take every incident involving illegal firearms incredibly seriously. I would like to reassure the local communities in Sheffield that we do not believe there to be any ongoing risk to the wider public.

“Illegal weapons can have a devastating impact and we will do everything we can to keep them off the streets of South Yorkshire.

“If you have any information that could assist either investigation, I urge you to get in touch to report it.”
