Officers in our Roads Policing team are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Rotherham yesterday morning (Friday 3 December).
At around 7.40am, a yellow Suzuki Ignis is reported to have been travelling north along the A6123 Herringthorpe Valley Road towards the Mushroom roundabout when it collided head-on with a black Ford Transit near the junction with Broadway East. The Ford Transit ended up partially embedded in the galvanised railing of a pedestrian refuge.
The driver of the Suzuki was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the Transit suffered minor injuries and was also taken to hospital for treatment.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses to this collision, which occurred on a busy road at a peak time.
The team is particularly keen to hear from witnesses who have dashcam footage of the incident, or who saw the Suzuki in the minutes leading up to the collision.
