We have been recognised for our commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community by being presented with a prestigious Gold Award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
This latest accolade comes after the force signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2019 and has since achieved both Bronze and Silver Awards.
The Gold Award is an achievement awarded to just three other police forces in 2021, which demonstrates how Armed Forces personnel- both within SYP and in the wider South Yorkshire community- are supported and receive the best possible service we can offer.
Chief Inspector David Struggles said: “We are proud to receive this accolade as a testament to our hard work since signing the Armed Forces Covenant in 2019.
“We are so proud of our armed forces community- both within the force and in the communities we serve. In receiving this prestigious award, we have demonstrated that we are making a difference to them.
“We have worked tirelessly to ensure we are providing the best service we can by training our staff in referring vulnerable veterans to Project Nova, engaging with the veteran community, providing employment opportunities and supporting our own staff and their families.
“In this latest achievement, we remain dedicated in our pledge to support them.”
