Two arrested following shots fired in Rotherham

A man and woman are currently in police custody after being arrested in connection with shots fired in Rawmarsh today (Thursday 22 July).

Police were called at 2.09am this morning after reports of shots being fired at a junction between Kilnhurst Road and Lime Tree Crescent.

Officers attended and a 46-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested in connection to the incident.

No one was injured in the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Murphy, from the Armed Crime Team said: “We believe this was a targeted incident and have no cause to believe there is an ongoing risk to the wider public.

“If you have any information which could assist the investigation, please report it as a matter of urgency by speaking to an officer or calling 101 quoting reference: 077 of 22 July.

"Residents in the area can expect to see an enhanced policing presence today as investigations continue. Officers will be conducting house-to-house enquiries and a cordon will remain in place at the scene."
