Two in court charged with drugs offences, Barnsley

Two men have been charged with drugs offences, after a car was stopped in the Grimethorpe area, and cash and drugs recovered.

On Monday morning (30 July), officers from Barnsley’s tasking team stopped a VW Golf on Oldroyd Avenue. The car was searched and £500 in cash was seized, along with a quantity of Class A and B drugs.

Two men travelling in the vehicle were arrested and have since been charged in connection to the incident.

Ricky Murphy, 33, of Oldroyd Avenue, Grimethorpe, and Neil Whittaker, 37, of Sycamore Avenue, Grimethorpe have both been charged with possession of Class A and B drugs, with intent to supply and possession of criminal property.

Whittaker is also charged with driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and no insurance.

Both have been remanded into custody to appear before Barnsley Magistrate’s Court this morning (Wednesday 1 August).
