Man arrested after Sheffield incidents

Officers investigating a series of linked incidents in which a man suffered a serious facial injury have arrested a 36-year-old man.

The 36-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with reports that a 31-year-old man had been seriously assaulted at a bookmakers on London Road, at around 8.30pm on Monday 4 June. The 31-year-old remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The 36-year-old currently remains in police custody as enquires continue.

Later in the evening, at 11.45pm, a further incident was reported to police on Wostenholm Road, where damage was caused to a property, consistent with a firearm being discharged. No one was injured.

An hour later in the early hours of Tuesday 5 June, reports of a disturbance were received at a takeaway on West Street where damage was caused and a man assaulted. The man left prior to police arriving and officers are keen to identify him and speak to him to ensure he is safe and well.

An investigation remains ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to report it via 101 quoting incident number 691 of 4 June.
