Man charged with robbery and assault in Doncaster

Officers investigating the robbery of an elderly man in the Woodlands area of Doncaster last week have charged a man in connection with the investigation.

At around 10.30am on Wednesday 13 June, it was reported a 96-year-old had been approached by an unknown man who asked if he wanted to buy a garden strimmer.

The 96-year-old man who was on the Great North Road, Woodlands, Doncaster, agreed to buy the strimmer and produced a quantity of cash. The man snatched the cash from his hand and pushed him to the floor.

The man sustained an injury to his head in the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Jamie Chambers, 37, of Lothian Road, was charged with robbery and assault in connection with the investigation. He is currently remanded into custody until his next appearance before Sheffield Crown Court on 13 July.
