A man has been arrested and charged, after allegedly visiting HMP Doncaster and throwing items including drugs and mobile phones into the grounds of the prison.
At around 4.20pm on Sunday night (20 January), prison officers at HMP Doncaster became aware of a man throwing tennis balls over the prison wall and into the grounds. The tennis balls were found to have prohibited items inside them, including drugs and mobile phones. The prohibited items have been recovered by specialist officers.
The man is then said to have entered the water in a nearby canal, before prison officers retrieved him from the water and he was detained.
A 35-year-old man has since been charged in connection to the incident. Jay Taylor, of no-fixed-address, appeared in court today charged with the conveyance of prohibited articles into prison. He has been remanded to HMP Doncaster to appear before court at a later date.
