Two men charged with alleged firearms offences

Two men have appeared before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court charged in connection with a reported firearms discharge in Rotherham last week.

Kyle Stephenson, 32, of Ash View, Greasbrough, appeared before the court yesterday (Wednesday 2 January) charged with possession of a pump action shotgun. He has been remanded in custody and will appear before Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday 30 January.

Nathan Smedley, 27, of Ingshead Avenue, Rawmarsh, appeared before magistrates today (Thursday 3 January) charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He has been remanded in custody and will appear before Sheffield Crown Court on Thursday 31 January.

The charges relate to reports of shots being fired towards a vehicle, which was stationary in the Ash Grove area of Rotherham, at around 9.45pm on Sunday 30 December, causing damage.

Nobody was injured during the incident.
