A number of knives were recovered by officers in Doncaster yesterday (Monday 11 March), as part of Operation Sceptre.

They appear to have been dumped at the side of the road, near to the Lands End Road area of Thorne, and were found during an open land search.

Later in the day, officers were approached by a resident in Mexborough who handed in six knives they wanted to dispose of.

Sergeant Stuart Rowse, from Doncaster, said: “The person who gave the knives to officers was concerned about putting them in a public dustbin, in case they got into the wrong hands.

"I’d strongly encourage anyone who has knives they want to dispose of to hand them in to their local police station or come in to make an appointment for officers to go out and collect them.”
