Man charged in connection to Sheffield supermarket assault

A 23-year-old man has been charged with section 18 wounding, actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon following an incident at Tesco on Savile Street, Sheffield during which two people were injured.

On Tuesday 19 March, emergency services were called to the store just after 1.30pm. It was reported that a man had assaulted a 58-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man with a screwdriver inside the store. Their injuries were initially thought to be serious and both were taken to hospital. They have since been treated for facial injuries. 

Sakariya Mohammed, of Grimesthorpe Road, is remanded in custody and will appear before Sheffield Crown Court today (Thursday 21 March).
