24-year-old Trevy Turner of Kent Road, Sheffield has been sentenced to 14 weeks in prison, after officers from the Sheffield Central and North West Neighbourhood Team arrested him for breaching his restraining order as part of Operation Sidewinder last week.

Turner appeared at Sheffield Magistrates Court on Monday 29 April, for breaching his restraining order on two separate occasions in March and April for domestic violence.

As well as the prison sentence, he was ordered to pay £115 to the victim.

Operation Sidewinder is a high visibility operation, which sees officers patrolling key routes through the city lead by a passive drugs dog.

PC Neil Wickstone from the Neighbourhood Team said: “Operation Sidewinder is first and foremost a drugs operation, but in cases such as this, it shows itself to be a vital tool in other ways, including the prevention of violent crime. We will be running more operations like this in the future.”
