Man charged with rape after Sheffield sex attack

A Sheffield man will appear before court today (Thursday 16 May) charged with rape following an attack on a woman in Woodseats.

Matthew Jowitt, 18, of Cartmell Road, Sheffield, will appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

At around 9.30am on Tuesday 14 May, it was reported that a 27-year-old woman had been raped on a grassed area adjacent to Ulverston Road, Woodseats.  

The woman continues to be supported by specialist officers.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 249 of 14 May 2019.
