The Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police is seeking applications from substantive Chief Inspectors, who have the drive and ambition to join the Force as a Superintendent.
We are looking for passionate leaders with the ability to drive high performance in one of the country’s top performing Forces, to help achieve our ambitious plans for the future.
The process is also open to current substantive Superintendents looking to transfer from other forces.
About the role
As a Superintendent, you will lead a large area of command, within the Force, and across collaborations, strategic alliances and partnerships, carrying responsibility for all activities across the South Yorkshire area. You will play a critical lead role in operational policing for major or critical events or incidents to ensure public safety and strengthen public confidence.
Our successful candidates will hold the highest level of credibility and will:
- Have an inspirational leadership style and approach aligned to the values of the force
- Be skilled in engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, partners and officers to enable collective collaboration
- Have ability to make effective operational and business decisions and improve and deliver outcomes at a strategic level
- Be passionate about providing the best possible service to the communities of South Yorkshire

South Yorkshire Police offer relocation/removal expenses of up to a maximum of £8,000 to transferring officers who live outside the force area and at least 50 miles from their permanent place of work.
